My friends get emergency weather alerts and other alerts on their phones. How do I set that up?A. Piece of cake. Search for 'CMAS' or 'WEA' in your phone's messaging settings. You can also dial '##2627##' (minus quotes) on your phone to turn them on. If neither of these do the trick, you might not have a phone that is WEA enabled.
That's OK, though. You can still get emergency weather alerts with weather apps like the Weather Channel app. For other emergency alerts, use ping4alerts or contact your local authorities or nearby colleges. They sometimes have crime and emergency texts and emails that will tell you when something is wrong.Password-protect a PDFQ.
My company sends PDF files though email. They're confidential, but we don't know how to password-protect them.
How can I set up browser and email weather notifications? Where is the Pollen / Allergy Forecast? What happened to the Sun and Moon information? Where is the marine forecast (Boat & Beach)? What happened to my Almanac information? The Weather Channel, LLC weather.com®. Email address is required. Invalid email address. Subject is required. Question is required. Exceeding max length of 5KB. Add Another Attachment. Your name. Your email address. Country. How are you getting your weather? The Weather Channel, LLC weather.com®.
Is there a way to do this?A. There are a few ways, actually. You could zip them up and then password-protect the zip file with a program like 7-Zip. Many programs that encrypt files will work on PDFs, as well. If you want something built for PDFs, try PDFProtect! I like it because it works in seconds and doesn't even require a download. Just make sure you encrypt the file with low encryption if you use an older PDF reader.
High encryption is more secure, but it might not work with outdated versions of some PDF readers.User-friendly photo editingQ. Every free photo-editing program I've tried is too complicated.
Is there something easier I'm missing?A. Web editors can be much easier to understand than downloadable programs. Sites like PicMonkey and Pixlr are great places to start.
They offer cropping, retouching and other goodies. They don't go as deep as programs like GIMP, but they'll give you what you need for the most part. If you want a simple program you can download, you can check out Photoscape. It goes a little further than Web editors in terms of features. However, it has a smaller learning curve compared to other photo-editing software.Read e-books on a new e-readerQ. I just bought a new e-reader. How do I transfer my e-books from my old e-reader?A.
If you're upgrading to an e-reader from the same company, you should be able to transfer your books using the gadget's built-in tools or the store website. If you're upgrading from one style of e-reader to another — like from a Kindle to a Nook or vice versa — you'll need another tool.
Calibre is a good place to start. It helps you convert e-book files so they'll work on whatever gadget you want. It will organize e-books on your computer as well, like a librarian for digital books. For closed formats like Kindle, converting will require some extra work.
Check the site for instructions. Are password-protection programs safe?Q. I'm thinking about using LastPass to keep track of all my passwords. It seems a little sketchy to give all of my passwords to one program, though. What do you think?A.
I understand your concern, but most password managers are safe. Of course, make sure you're downloading one of the popular ones like LastPass or KeePass. These programs sometimes have doppelganger programs that will steal your password.
Other than that, I actually recommend people use password-management programs. That way, you can create strong passwords and don't have to worry about forgetting them. Just make sure you make your master password something that's easy to remember but still hard to crack.Kim Komando hosts the nation's largest talk radio show about consumer electronics, computers and the Internet. KellySwiftie, Emails don’t send outHi!I’ve been an AOL mail user for quite a long time, over 10 years! And I really love AOL. But when I try to write messages out and send them when using the app, my messages don’t send out and I receive a pop up message saying “Oops, this is embarrassing, something went wrong.” Then I’d have to send the whole message again or I have to type it up again which is annoying.
I keep in touch with friends through my email and want to be sure my messages are sent but 90% of the time on my app it pops up that message. It works fine if I go on the website into my account on the computer but for some reason the app won’t cooperate all the time when using the app.I figured I’d mention this to you because I feel it should be fixed so everyone has the chance to send emails through their phones without any problems. I’m not quite sure if anyone else has this issue but I know I’ve been having it since I’ve downloaded the app years ago. Developer Response, Hi Kelly, thanks so much for the review! In order to resolve this issue, please try the troubleshooting solutions below: 1.
Restart your mobile device 2. Uninstall and reinstall the app with the latest version 3. Lastly, switch the internet connection from WiFi to mobile data or vice-versa. Ivanpeebleskovalev, While I was on a trainWhen the second time had started the score was 0:1 over France. I watched iit on a huge screen of the Marriott Marquis hanging over the Times Square. I went live on my Facebook to share podcast with my friends all over the world; cheering for our team to win. In a second i felt really connected to the world, while reporting, messages started coming into my eyes from everywhere.
The Marquis wanted to know what room am i staying in, my friends wanted to show them my surroundings, that’s when my office had called asking when i return; -“ it’s Friday, you know, everyone wants to go home!” Well, i wished a great weekend to my viewers, wrapped up and dove into the Subway. The 2 train got a reroute at the Chambers and went straight to Cortland. I got off, went straight and up to my office, wished a great weekend to my colleagues came down on the street and right there, standing beneath the great Father of the nation i got this message what i’ve wished for from “America On Line” - “We won!”. Retspcer, Inability to leave sign in feature on.1. Within the last month I have experienced issues which occurred the last time I was hacked. Same font and same window.
Now each time I sign in it automatically signs me out if I leave it on it switch to another app on my iPhone or iPad. This makes me believe that someone else is using my accounts.
And my other account will not open either. I have attempted to contact aol but they only give assistance to paid members. I have been a member since the beginning and as a retiree from aol/TW have never been forced to pay.2. I have too much mail and would like to select mail and mass delete as I could if I had a computer.
But I no longer have one. When I inquired about a change in the app I was told it can’t be done and to use a computer. Sorry I can’t give a better review at this time because I love aol.
But I no longer feel safe or able to get assistance. Possibly you as the developer can do something and notify aol members.
